The birth of my being...

"O' thou Creatrix Divine...

From the umbral heart of thy void-body sublime
thou hast ripped the univeral-mind.
All light that by the outer-darkness was defined,
and within thy expansive sprawl thou dids't decree:
I am the Whole and I am the All, aught that is...
IS within thy soul's nocturnal thrall.
From out of thy non-being sprung forth a desire-cosmic,
that aching moment of division wrought...
...to weave a web, mysterious and cryptic,
whereupon each thread-path back to thy spirit is brought!"

Anathema Publishing presents Pillars II: The Golden Etir...

Once again, we have been presented with another stunningly crafted and gloriously sublime edition of Pillars Journal from Anathema Publishing. Throughout its pages one sees a beautiful array of powerful and iconic imagery set amongst numerous essays, articles, and ritual pieces on various aspects of what in common parlance has been termed the Luciferian Path. These wonderfully interwoven images and written works, a fusion of art and The Arte, have come together in Issue 2 of the First Volume of Pillars as The Golden Etir.

It is obvious that every measure was to taken to ensure that this edition would surpass its predecessor, and also initial release from Anathema Publishing, with painstaking detail and glorious layout and design. As befits this issue it has been emblazoned with golden metallic imprints on the cover and spine to reveal the luminosity and enlightenment that comes from drinking deeply of the Divine Poison.

Many writers and artists grace it pages, some known well and others only just coming from out of the shadows to reveal their amazing visions to us. You will not be disappointed with what this journal has to offer. Have a look for yourself at the list of contributors and contents...

I was pleased to have, once again, been accepted to have my work featured amongst its pages by way of a written and illustrated ritual text and commentary titled 'The Luminous Masquerade of Qayin: Multifarious Adorations unto the Shadow of the Night'. Also, it was a great surprise when I was asked to contribute a small piece of artwork I had done to be featured on a carton card bookmark that is to be included with all copies of Pillars II: The Golden Etir.

Bookmark to accompany all copies of Pillars II.

A small peek within its pages.

A look at the loose pages from the proof copy. Here you can see works from
myself, to the left, and to the right, are shown a glance of pieces contributed
by Nicholaj De Mattos Frisvold, CM Vaenus Obscura, and Ash Nostro Morg.

Along with this copy and for contributors only there was blended an incense by the cunning hands of Xonia Abyssos from Teufelskunst. There are however "plans to make available a limited batch together with a signed art print illustrating and evoking the different aspects of our incensus from Teufelskunst" for those interested in obtaining some for themselves.

This issue has been printed to a limited number of 230 copies, 30 of which will be going to contributors, and from what information I have there are only near half remaining for purchase. So it would be wise to grab a copy before they are sold out completely. To obtain a copy of this exquisite journal for yourself, please follow the link provided below:

"Germane to the Dissolution, Incineration and Amalgation of the Golden Mean into the very-tincture of The Soul, The Flesh and The Spiritual Blood; Unified so as to fashion each own Philosopher’s Stone, The Apple & The Poison of Old, & hence honour with Words, Deeds & Will, under the royal auspice of Lord LuxFerre, Our Great Mother; Sapientia Alchimique.

Semantics and symbolism have always been used as a method of transferance from one restricted point of perception toward a more exalted objective view of the (w)hole. In this respect, ancient symbols have proven most efficient a Message from Above & Below for The Adept to utilise within praxes. - Anathema Publishing encourages contributors to exploit this dual faculty of Language and Logos; to shy not digging deep into the allegorical interpretation of The Golden Eitr and bite down its tender flesh!

Once again, it is time for PILLARS to rise high & shed its Trans-Liminal Light over the Cosm'Conundrum. }{ .As the Wytch of Eld would say "By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes..."

Whisperings from the Void - A Review by Shani Oates...

‘Whisperings from the Void: The Amaranthine Arcanum of Holy Image and Revealed Exegesis’ by Patrick Larabee

Published by Aeon Sophia Press

A Review by Shani Oates...

An exploratory and astonishingly beautiful narrative; a glorification of the Greatest Mystery – that of Illumination. Equally, the subtext remains skillfully dedicated to the varied threads and causeways of inspired and revealed gnosis, the strands and super-strands of ‘Fate.’

Richly symbolic sigils illustrate arte-fully this sacred pilgrimage through the lonely Arcanum of the ONE. Herein, the Beloved calls to Her Lover. To all those She inspires, Her Lover manifests Her Grand Design, Her divine Creativity in Word and Image via the liminality of ‘Being.’

Separated into two halves, book one accompanies the Fool into the Paradisial Sojourn; book two experiences the realised man, reveling in his own divinity. Together they herald the divine ecstasies. Enthralled and enrapt – this is the fascinating engagement of the ‘other.’

Perception and perspective become challenged, rocked, nay torn from the very apposite status quo. The reader is cunningly drawn in to view the veil, thereto find themselves victim to its ‘light’ but conversely subject to its elusive shadows. Whisperings from the Void resides as a work for all workers of the arte. From within the shadows habit, doubt and superstition all become ameliorated upon the Great Pyre of Truth!

In prose and verse, the dominion of flesh is illuminated by ‘Presence.’ This Matrix of the Collective weaves intricate threads to access the infinitesimal Wyrd, facilitating an inexplicable subtle vibrational causality. Degrees of separation exist only in our narcissistic perception.

Choosing the mentor of the ‘Hidden One’ within, Patrick Larabee provokes the inspiritus guide of the individual. The sentient, Multiplicity of Being is drawn from the Void of Being and tho’ oft imagined clearly through the great eye, its inner vista splintered as the prismatic reflection of the ‘Other.’ Death is but a transformation of consciousness; it is but a singular dream of the Singularity and one that unites dream with the dreaming, the reality of actuality. In real time, duality is transformed. Unity reigns supreme.

The world of insistent spirit exists as a vehicle for its own corporeality – it becomes an experiential journey, a foray designed to stimulate a realisation of Truth, the binder of Mind and Memory, the twin virtues of the soul’s evolutionary journey. Will, ever the arcane virtue of the formidable becomes the fop to a multi-dimensional absolute within and without the machine of the ‘self  -  the impedimenta of gnosis.

All is simplicity, sheer elegance of mechanism, economy of unilateral impact. Confronted by the eternal and unchanging Abyss, the quintessential mask is the panoply of illumination. Kalas sheath and bathe the body. Such intimate transmutations are generally passed through dreamscapes to materialise within the Nexus, the divine Hub.

Every human vacillates between the poles of extremism. The journey is the measure of self-awareness, sentience and self gnosis. Whim and desire are distractions, No more, no less. Likewise the Sandman and the Reaper are the regulators of the patterns we spin upon the arcane hub - the quaternary of spirit, soul, psyche and flesh!

Disciplined praxis presents unswerving examples of prose and verse to deepen the reader’s experience of these time-honoured battles. These pages are dedicated to the primal Covenant; in serving that vainglorious deed, convocations to several, specific, named sheaths of spirit, whose forms are explored in Rites inspired for and by them. These include the laying of the Compass proper; the Rising of Sensorial and Peripheral Being; Envelopment within the Primal Matriarch and the Father, Absorption through the Mother and Illumination inspired by all the virtues and spirits of Day and of  Night, all in the immediacy of the eternal moment.

Strength, vitality and endurance are of the forge and furnace deep in the stygian darkness, of the Mound and Caverns of the seas and lakes. Universal symphonics enthuse a resonance of place in accord with divine will. Mother of exilic wanderers, Lilith, the bridge of chaos and storm winds of all change; She ushers the dynamic we least expect to challenge the status quo, rending outworn modalities from their inhibiting tethers. Together with Samael they nurture all kin in Holt and Hearth.

Entreaties are lauded to the Great Mistress of the Absu, Tiamat, Leviathon of old.  Baphomet is called upon to assist in the attainment of the inner amoral androgynous Self in likeness of this realised Soul. Tubal Cain and Naamah, weavers and forgers of Fate are set beside Janus, guardian of all portals and guide to the wanderer traversing the labyrinthine paths. The Holy Spirit Ruha whose breath inspires all to rise to their divine potential is honoured here also.

These are but some of the Mighty Ones whose Titanic Virtue is recognised in reciprocal acknowledgement of the golden chain of being. For we are not so much the reflection of the divine as we are its tangible projection, a holy manifestation of Truth, Love and Beauty.  Thus are we truly the ‘fallen’ as Spirit upon the Earth; and thus are we Spirit, elevated within the Light of the World.

An update and numerous projects...

For any who follow my work or hold an interest in what I have going on, here is a small update.

This new year has brought many promising opportunities my way. I am extremely pleased to announce that I will have a 6 image feature along with a short essay 'The Magick of Art(e): Delineations of the Divine' in Issue 2 of the new esoteric art journal Zhoupheus, who state the following as their primary objective...

"Zhoupheus is a bi-annual esoteric magazine. Founded in 2012, it is conceived to cover a plurality of branches that involve the lore of what could be called primordial wisdom and its reemergence in the modern world. Zhoupheus wishes to be a collaborative platform for authors and artists to share their work and to facilitate the creation of new, thought-provoking ideas that defy the mundane theoretical standards of society."

The second publication is Qliphoth Opus II, which will contain two of my images from the Icons of the Void series. This journal is well worth having a look at and it offers a wealth of wisdom for who walk the esoteric path. It is being offered by Aeon Sophia Press, the same publisher who released my book Whisperings from the Void. More information about this publication can be seen here...

Also, still available through Aeon Sophia Press is the standard edition of Whisperings from the Void, which is my own book and is a fusion of my writing and art. Very soon they shall be announcing the deluxe version which has been skillfully crafted by Eamonn Loughran of The Hell Fire Book Club. Images of which can be seen here at the Aeon Sophia Press Facebook page...

And a very exciting development for me was the acceptance of two older images to be featured in the time honoured and respected Stafire: A Journal of the New Aeon brought to us by Starfire Publishing. You should definitely have a look at their site as they are currently offering an awesome selection of books, both current and forthcoming. While you are there, you might as well have a look at the amazing artwork on offer from Kyle Fite as well. One of my favourite modern artists.

In other developments of my own, I have now opened an official website for Lilith's Lantern Press where my artwork can be purchased and features a small selection of pieces that are now available. Please have a look and as always, if you have any questions, do contact at: aglassdarkly777@yahoo.com.

I have numerous new pieces available for sale, all of which can be seen either on the website above or on my Facebook page at...

And still available are various images from the limited edition print run of the Libri ab Sanguis series that were featured in my book. These sell for approximately $20 per print, or 3 for $50, plus shipping, and feature some of my more popular pieces such as....

If you wish to see the full series of these images, please visit...

A Peak Into The Hermit's Lair: Inception & Transgression.

[Review of 'Whisperings from the Void: The Amaranthine Arcanum of Holy Image and Revealed Exegesis', from Patrick John Larabee. -- By G. McCaughry (Anathema Publishing) - MMXII

...

Introduco:

How does one quantify personal experience? - Well, somehow, 'Whisperings from the Void: The Amaranthine Arcanum of Holy Image and Revealed Exegesis', Patrick John Larabee's first published manuscript in the form of a whole book (courteously released via Aeon Sophia Press), attempts and aims at answering this sempiternal question and proposes a thorough and undeniable observation concerning that which is the Witch's only true salvation and key motto; in essence, the Ways, Wants, and Woes of the Wayfarer treading the Hermitical Path of Mysteries... And Mr. Larabee does so with the care and attention of a true believer, or better yet an astute student and researcher.

'Whisperings from the Void' is not a Grimoire per se, even if there is enough Gnosis within to readily constitute various components of a Greater Grimoire (perhaps in time?). The crux of the oracles here-presented speaks about the results of various devotional operations/prayers and is an authentic outlook into the Magickal Arte, more so a direct and heartfelt access into one's own private praxis and syncretic relation with the Wyrds of Umbris.

In many ways 'Whisperings...' stand as an initiatory/introductory work into the Arte, however, some parts are clearly meant for those already in the "Know", as some invocations will often not be accompanied by any explanatory texts, forcing you to experiment on your own instead.
...

'Book I: Hermitus Pathos', is in itself a motivator, oiling the engine of the Adept and sparking the Flame; with invigorating essay-like texts and litanies helping us to renew with the Arte and generate deeper interest, therefore helping us remember why we came to answer The Calling in the first place, realizing the potential lying dormant inside, and supporting our very foundations and layers as Will-full Individuals.

In Mr. Larabee's words:

A huge emphasis has been put on the role of the "I" within the Cosmic Order and the Demiurgic Schema, and thus what constitute our Inner and Upper Self, as a reflection from behind the Void's ghastly shroud. The fascination for the "Eye" throughout the Book is another indicator that the words offered within aren't plainly spell'd to be read but are purposely meant for us to "see" & "behold".

Simply put, the book doesn't need to take you by the hand to show you the (or a) way to go about the Path. It rather opens a door and lets you in for a peak, leaving you wanting more. (If you catch my drift.) There is no pretension to educate here, nor even a deliberate attempt at any spiritual guidance really, so long as the Absolute portrayed within these pages remains apparent and flowing seamlessly out from the various texts and illustrations. (The illustrations, by the way, are honestly wonderful.)

Texts of particular interest within Book I., to my own humble opinion, are: “Seeing the Unseen: being beyond the self: The Eye of the I” (also featured in PILLARS I - “Psychopompos”), “The Emanation and Inheritance of the Sorcerous-Fire”, “Corpus-Cask of the Dynamically Aqueous Soul” (love the title!), “And the Shadow is cast...”.

* I think I may have this one inked as a tattoo someday...

...

'Book II: Libri ab Sanguis' truly stands as a monumental acknowledgement of both the Spirit of Truth and the Truth-in-Spirits, of the Holy Most-"I" and of Mother Nature combined, and it is an especially vivifying pact of devotion, for care has been put into every small poetic orations and I am glad this "part" made it whole into 'Whisperings...'. (The "Invokations of the Watchtowers of the Universe" are especially poignant.)

This, is a work of close-proximity, I'd even say intimacy, as if this work is at arm's length in terms of accessibility, being of malleable and adaptable content, which is somehow contre-courant to certain books focusing more on astral soaring and ascent, this one has instead, a more serene and solemn overall tone.

...

Of the numerous pictographs:

In many ways this tome could also serve as an artist's portfolio (in this case the author's). Mr. Larabee's sigil work is always very-well woven together, cohesive and stunning by the effectiveness as you can literally feel the energy speeding through them. Given, his artistic style and fashion may not be to everyone's taste, but it is certainly always on-point and more so exude a tangible passion for the portrayed Daimon and its concordant seal. There is a certain innocence of character in the way he goes about his drawing and painting, and I mean that in the best possible way, for here Innocence is synonymous with Purity; a style untainted by the popular way most come to expect the Veiled Masters to be depicted.

My personal coup-de-coeur certainly goes for the various sigils and illustrations done for the 'Book of Emanations' ('Book II: Libri Ab Sanguis', of 'Whisperings...'), to me,  they are the most evocative pieces within The Book; actual, embodied manifestations of the Dark Shadows-Made-God since times immemorial, and are very powerful symbols indeed.

...

Conclusio:

I started this review, or rather mere stating of facts (albeit from a subjective standpoint), with a Question and I shall try to conclude by suggesting an answer, or perhaps a hypothesis. - There is no need to neither quantify nor qualify personal experiences. Nor is there any actual obligation when it comes to the sharing of these. But when One goes about to let the words bleed honesty on paper, the cautious reader should definitely pay attention, for this is a rare gift nowadays.

This offering from Patrick J. Larabee is a balm on the Souls walking the Path of Revelations, barefooted on the burning embers of the charred and dying presumption that a book of such magnitude shouldn't be an enjoyable and easy reading from the get-go.

On a slightly bitter note, I wouldn't be honest with myself if I would not mention that one thing that kind of marred the reading experience at times, is the sheer amount of typos throughout the book. Of course, there is always a lot of these getting left behind in any books, but I guess a more thorough review of the manuscript first could've easily prevented the ones I noticed from making it into the final printed version. Same goes with the handling of some of the technical graphic specifications needed to be observed when including images that are bound to go to print. (Such as to include illustrations at a high enough resolution to make sure it doesn't come out pixelated or not "sharp" enough.) - I believe the actual size of the book itself isn't the best of choice when it comes to format, for me, it is simply too large, which makes for a slightly difficult handling when reading and forcing a bigger typefont size that I would have normally deemed fitting for such a book.

(Also, some of the Illustration's names are sorely missing from the List of Illustration at the end of the book... strange?)

It is my most sincere hope, to a fellow occultist and friend, to see this tome soar past the first edition and thus see it eventually revitalized with some of the technical aspects of the product itself, enhanced and rectified. But despite these few flaws, 'Whisperings from the Void' is a strong and solid first entry in the domain.

The Hermetic Realms are indeed vast, and Mr. Larabee, with his 'Whisperings from the Void', proves that an additional soldier-soul in the foray against the ignorant minds of our time trying to shield the Many against the Truth delivered by the Few, is always a very welcomed present for us all who are genuinely interested in the matter.

Gratitude & Benisons.
-G. McCaughry
